Ethics and Confidentiality

Confidentiality is very important to me.

Technically, professional ethics state that I cannot even acknowledge that I am working with a client unless they divulge it. It may be obvious to outsiders I am working with someone; but that is as far as it goes.

Unless I believe a client is going to hurt themself or someone else, what we discuss is confidential.

If a coach, parent, or guardian asks for an update on techniques the client and I are working on, the client needs to give the update to them or give me permission to update them. However, any personal issues that the client and I discuss are not included in my updates to anyone.
