Experience

My graduate degree is from the University of Florida Counselor Education Department with training in a two track program in School Guidance and Counseling and Mental Health Counseling. I have both a Master's of Education and a Specialist in Education degrees (MEd/EdS). Much of my experience has been in counseling clients with mild to severe mental health issues, teaching parent/child advocacy, facilitating behavior modification, life coaching, and running small group counseling sessions. I have over twenty-five years of professional experience practicing in public, private, clinical, and school settings. I have worked with early childhood, adolescent, teen, adult, and geriatric populations.

For the past decade I have worked primarily with athletes, the majority being archers and in most cases also students. I have also been lucky to work with adults and coaches of all ages and levels in basketball, shooting sports, triathlons, and running. I have gained valuable experience from coaching Olympic athletes including gold, silver, and bronze Olympic and Paralympic medalists, and World Champions. They all have helped me expand my knowledge of how to support an athlete and in many cases specifically student athletes.

My academic training was from a CACREP and CAEP (formerly NCATE) accredited program from the University of Florida that included a year of practicums and an internship. At one time years ago I was a certified school guidance counselor.

My path of academic training and past professional experience in the mental health field have given me a layer of knowledge and understanding that greatly influences the way I educate. However, it is important to note that I am not a licensed mental health professional and cannot accept insurance.
